5 Reasons Why You Should Teach English Overseas

1. You'll get paid to travel

So you spend your days wishing you were somewhere else, but when you look, with fingers crossed, at the bank balance, all your travel dreams come crashing back to reality? Well my friend I have good news - working overseas is the perfect way to avoid remortgaging your house, saving for months in advanced or having that all too familiar conversation with the parents to fund your trip. It might not be a free ride (as if your planning to teach overseas you'll still need to get a bit of change together for your online TEFL course and flights), but you will be earning money while you are overseas. So you'll soon be able to make back that initial investment and of course have some pennies left over to explore the country you're living in.

2. You'll meet new people

If we are being honest, you can never have too many friends. Teaching English overseas is an awesome way to make friends from all over the world, who, lets face it, you wouldn't have met had to stayed at home feeling sorry for yourself. You never know who you might meet when you're traveling, maybe if you're lucky you will bump into the love of your life in a random little market somewhere!

3. You'll really experience another culture

One of the most important things about traveling is experiencing another culture. As much as I loved my backpacking days, you just end up sightseeing and hanging around in youth hostels with the same people you would hang out with back home. One of the unique things about teaching overseas is that you really get to live life as a local - you will be living and working with other locals and able to really immerse yourself in the culture.

4. You'll get valuable work experience

Working overseas will be handy in the future as it will give you something really interesting to talk about in future interviews and show you're a well rounded person! Teaching English will boost your leadership, organizational and communication skills. You will also get some really useful and enjoyable work experience to pop on your resume. At least this way taking time away from "real life" can be guilt free and valuable for you too.

5. You'll have the chance to learn a new language

Luckily you don't have to speak another language to teach English overseas - most jobs just want your English skills. But it is certainly the perfect chance to learn a new language or improve your existing knowledge of the language. You could even try to get free lessons thrown into your contract if you play your cards right.

To sum up, teaching English overseas is an epic opportunity. Yes it is a big lifestyle chance but its something you will never regret. So why not try something new and really throw yourself in the deep end? Get a TEFL certificate and teach English overseas today.
