Short Term Memory and The Ways to Improve It

Short term memory loss is a mental health illness wherein a person is unable to recall something that happened a few seconds or minutes ago. This kind of mental illness is usually associated with aging as well as other developmental disorders. Short term memory is essential since it allows you to remember that things that you recently did. It is true however, that short term memory loss is irreversible. But contrary to this, there are methods discovered by a lot of scientists that can improve a person's short term memory.

Exercise. Exercising for 15 minutes or more per day can help improve help improve the circulation of blood and oxygen. Good circulation means that blood and oxygen are able to pass through one's brain cells that could keep them alive and kicking. For flexible persons and those without any health illnesses or problems, it is recommended to perform head stands to get blood flowing to the brains.
Focus. If there is something that you want to do and you want to prioritize it, focus on that activity and avoid thinking of other things that you want or need to do. Try to do 1 thing at a time. Person's with short term memory can be easily distracted and they are usually having a hard time multitasking.
Relax. Give yourself time to relax. It would be best if you do it with the use of relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, warm bath, massage, etc.
Sleep. Staying up late for different reasons is never a good option for those with short term memory problems. It is only during sleep where the brain is able to process necessary information and rest at the same time.
Organize. Have everything organized, from your bedroom, kitchen, living rooms, office etc. If you can, try to put labels on things so that it will be easy for you to remember them. Uncluttered and organized things will help you remember them easily and will also prevent stressing out your brain from forcing it to remember things.
List down. If you are given tasks to perform and to accomplish, writing them down or sticking them up on somewhere where you can easily see them is a good way to remind you of your priorities.
Although, short term memory loss is irreversible, persons affected with this illness should not stress out because there are actually ways to improve it. You just have to identify the technique and strategy that will work best on you.
