Learn Study Techniques - How Many Study Techniques Do You Know About

When there is a need to further enhance the usual learning strategies, there are a lot of options at school. This post will discuss about those techniques that high school and undergraduate students may find very useful.

Sometimes, simple things like this - the need to learn study techniques - is the most relevant and that requires your focused attention. Take for example the different ways of note taking of students at school. It is important because it helps a student recall the class lecture, outdoor experience, and lab formulas. No matter what the teacher shared must be noted. And to make sure not to miss anything relevant, be organized by having a specific notebook for that particular class. Furthermore, adopt the outlining and highlighting techniques for you to review notes easier.

To learn study techniques, your class presence and focused attention is a must. That's where all of your studying starts. Every discussion that the group has in class and every presentation that a teacher provides will be able to help learning. Maintain your focus and always ask questions when needed.

Notes can be an aid to recall 60% of the lectures taken within 24 hours. You can also review the notes straight away, another way to learn study techniques, and see if it also work for you as it worked for others. Don't limit where you apply this technique, use it along with PQRST or SQ3R method.Follow the 5-step method of PQRST and do it one at a time which include Preview, Question, Read, Self-Recitation, and Test. The first phase will help you get used with the handout material. During the questions phase, you ask the questions for the material that you looked over in the preview. Read to get clarifications and answers. Out loud recitation will help you remember. After you find all of your answers you should do the final step and test your ability to remember. Repeating this a number of times can improve your recall even more.

Like PQRST, the SQ3R method is under five steps process that serves as an aid to study. First, you need to survey the material and look over the heading and sub-headings. Write down questions related to it. Then you actively read looking to find the answers. Then recite the relevant details you encounter. And finally, review the number two to four steps to check if you fully understand what you've read.

In relation, there is mnemonics which is considered as one of the most known learn study techniques around. This strategy can help you recall important details while associating rhymes and patterns of words. Acronyms and acrostics are its two main types. To further enhance your ability to recall things, use the first letter of the multiple study pieces, like great lakes names. To cite, lets note on the names of some great lakes such as Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior that take under the acronym HOMES.

The other option is acrostics. It allows you to keep a specific order of your material. Take for example the planets' order as recall with this provided mnemonic. It shows a distant order from least to the highest degree that can be easily recognized in one look like the distance of Mercury and Neptune from the sun.

The above strategies were used by students for several years now which helped them level up their grades and increase their recall ability. In short, the method works.
