Now that the technologies of transportation and communication have replaced national economic systems with a global economy, nations and businesses that do not practice TQM can become globally non-competitive rather rapidly. Learning difficulties spreads along a spectrum to include many intellectual, emotional, and verbal disorders. It is not only a term for the more common ADD and autism, instead learning difficulties also cover more basic disorders that directly deal with a child's ability to learn.
Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing Andrea Honigsfeld and Dr. Maria Dove, who were gracious enough to provide readers of the Teachers' Diversity Coach, insights and information on teacher collaboration and on their new book, Collaboration and Co-teaching: Strategies for English Learners. In the past few years, collaboration between general education teachers and ESL teachers who teach English language learners is emerging as a highly important development that is helping teachers of ELL students address the problems of how to support this diverse student population more academically.

We all have different methods of processing and retaining information (the latter seems to become harder with every passing year) and they generally fall into three categories - auditory, visual and kinesthetic. Most learners have a dominant learning style. I believe the core strategy to successfully assisting learners to achieve their goals is offering a multi-style approach in every learning situation.
