Are Girls Brighter Than Boys?

Many are of the view that girls are brighter than boys, I disagree. I believe boys could outshine girls on any given day once they put their minds to it.

I have a niece and nephew and they are both intelligent, however, the nephew is brighter than his sister. The way he answers a question and how he tries to get himself out of trouble is amazing.

It is a fact that yes, more females are pursuing education than males and in almost all educational institutions except for same sex schools, it is evident that females out number the males by far, it is much more rampant today. However, if a male decides to apply himself, he can surpass the females in anything.

Girls tend to be more studies oriented whilst boys tend to focus on doing a trade or finding quick ways to make money, for instance, in many offices, banks, libraries you are more likely to find majority of the staff as females. However, if you go to plumbing, electrical, hardware stores, mechanical engineering stores, and computer repairs shops you are more likely to find more males than females. This is also manifested in their choice of subjects in school.

Generally speaking the attention span of males is much shorter than females. Most girls can stay awake for long hours studying where as most males may fall asleep by the first or second hour. On the contrary if a wrestling game is showing or they are in front of a Nintendo game they will stay up for long hours, playing. A boy would rather give up studying for playing marbles or other games with his friend/s.

The interest of males and females differ greatly. Males like sports, adventure, games, music, and playboy and just being wild whilst females are calmer, they prefer to read, write, teach, go to church, and attend weddings. Consequently, you see a girl with a book but you may tend to see a boy with a game in his hand or music in his ears.

Males tend not to apply themselves like the females. Some females can stay for hours and hours studying where a male may find it to be a challenge. Females would develop budgets, plan activities for the week or month, and have a timetable for studying. Males on the other hand would live life as it comes to them. Additionally, females particularly, working females would save money for rainy days whilst males may spend every cent.

Boys are brighter than girls; there have been instances at Common Entrance/SEA, CXC, CSEC, CAPE and at university level where boys came out on top. They were valedictorians, and many had special honours upon graduation. Boys fail because they choose to.

One of the demoting factors which have lead males to not perform well in school is probably the issue of a lack of male model at home, school and generally all around may cause males to slack away from studying and focus on other things like just making money.
