What Structures are Part of an English Course Online?

When you take an English course on line, you have to start at the beginning just as you would with any English course that will teach you to read, write and speak the language. When searching for a free online course, you have to make sure the course contains the four main components of learning English ?listening, speaking, reading and writing. Therefore you need to make sure the course has an audio component in which the passages are read by native English speakers.  Since the course is free, you can easily check out all aspects of iyt to make sure it has everything you need to help you learn the English language.

The audio component should contain conversational and business English. The conversations at the beginning of the course are very short and simple, which is what you need to get started. These beginning conversations start with teaching you how to introduce yourself to others and how to ask for directions. The conversations gradually increase in difficulty as the structures you learn become more difficult.

As part of an online course, you also need to learn all the facets of English grammar so that you can speak and write the language correctly. This includes learning the parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverb, etc., their purpose in different sentences and how to use them correctly. Punctuation is part of the course, as is the tense of verbs and the types of sentences.

Each lesson in the course should consist of a set in instructions that explain what the structure is and examples of how to use it. While you can read these instructions, you also need to be able to practice what you have learned. This is why you should look for a course that has pages of practice exercises and immediate feedback on how well you did so that you know if you should review the lesson on move on to the next one. By studying the structures of English grammar in this way, you now only learn how to write the language, but this helps you with your speaking and writing.

You can usually handle the speaking part of such a course on your own. Listen to the speaker reading the passage several times and then play the passage again as you read along with it. Record yourself reading the passage on your own and then play it back to compare it with the speaker. Make sure you complete the comprehension exercises at the end of these passages because this will help you understand the language when you read and listen to others.

You do have to discipline yourself when you take an online course in English. This is because you are studying on your own at home, so you have to make sure you do set a time for yourself, the same as you would if you were attending class. This means setting a time when you are going to study so you should inform your friends and family that you will be unavailable at this time. The benefit of studying English in this way is that you can do so at any time unlike having to stick to a schedule during the day or early eveming.
