Summary
Grant writing classes and workshops are a necessity if you are going to learn to access the billions of dollars given away each year to non profits. While many organizations and grant writing classes make it confusing, there is nothing really hard about it. Instead, it is hard to get all the information you need and get comfortable with the process reading books or the internet. Grant writing is nothing more than writing a letter to someone who has funding they would like to give away to the organization that will use it the best. That letter needs to have specific information in it that is determined by the person giving away the money.

Think of it like this. Suppose you want to give away your car to someone who needed it but you wanted to give it to someone who didn't already have a car and was going to use it for the right purposes. You would ask each person who wanted the car a series of questions so that you could determine who the best recipient was. That is what writing for grants is. The information you include in your letter will help the organization giving away the money determine if you should get the money.

How Grant Writing Classes Help

Classes should help you learn:
1. How to research to find those who are giving money away
2. How to build relationships with those who give grant money away
3. The information you are going to need to include in the grant proposal you write
4. How to follow-up effectively after you write and send the grant proposal
5. How to handle the approval or rejection so that you can ask for future funds

You should be able to learn the above in grant writing classes that take no more than a day. It is not a difficult process. You simply need to learn the steps and the information and then practice it. Many throughout the years have been awarded a grant on their first proposal after attending a short class. Beware, not all classes are alike. In fact, I have heard horror stories of people who have sat through several days worth of grant writing classes and walk away more confused than when they arrived.

Instead of traveling to a class, possibly needing a hotel, spend gas or buy an airline ticket, wouldn't it be nice to have the class come to you in the comfort of your own home?

What would even be better is if you could have the grant writing classes come to you, complete them in less than 5 hours, and be able to write your first grant proposal in the remaining 3 working hours of the day?

Grant Writing Classes are a Plus

I always encourage people, that the most stable form of fundraising is through building relationships with individuals, corporations, and doing fundraising events. These forms of fundraising give you instant access to people where you can get them involved and explain your cause easier. When grant writing, most of your relationship and explanation happens on paper, which is much harder to convey. That is why grant writing classes are a good idea, they help you learn the art of conveying your needs on paper. It is rare that you can pick up the phone and get results with a grant funding organization like you can with individuals and corporations.

A quick couple hours watching a grant writing class from the comfort of your home or office can give you all the instruction and support you need to access billions of dollars given away to non profits every year.
