In January of 2008 I was asked by Lorelle van Fossen to write a post for Edublogs Magazine. I had a short humorous post about a broken copy machine and my frustration. I added a few touches here and there and had my guest post for the online mag.
ArticleIn January of 2008 I was asked by Lorelle van Fossen to write a post for Edublogs Magazine. I had a short humorous post about a broken copy machine and my frustration. I added a few touches here and there and had my guest post for the online mag. Well, since then I have really learned to teach without paper. I've modified curriculum and innovated strategies that utilize A/V and interactive tools (like white boards) to achieve more than paper ever did. EDI is a great method to use in a paperless lesson. Do I need to add it's a "green" direction? That seems to be everybody's concern these days. If interested, the source of EDI and more information is at Data Works.
To give you an idea what a day without paper looks like, here's an example of a day I've taught -the grade level is 4th-: 8:50-9:50 EDI Lesson - Figurative Language. Materials: LCD, computer, whiteboards, dry erase markers - No Paper 9:50-10:30 Test Prep - Backward map of test data. Materials: LCD, computer, whiteboards, dry erase markers - No Paper 10:45-11:45 EDI Lesson - Capitalization. Materials: LCD, computer, whiteboards, dry erase markers - No Paper 11:45-12:20 Test Prep - Backward map of test data. Materials: LCD, computer, whiteboards, dry erase markers - No Paper 1:00-2:20 Geometry Lesson - Materials: LCD, computer, whiteboards, dry erase markers - No Paper 2:35-3:10 Test Prep - Backward map of test data. Materials: LCD, computer, whiteboards, dry erase markers - No Paper I hope that gave you some ideas. Now it's your turn. How do you teach without paper?
