Completing your Bachelor's degree for teaching will prepare you for a rewarding career working with students and helping them excel.

What is the curriculum like?

While earning your Bachelor's degree in education, you will complete a variety of foundational courses in the liberal arts as well as different courses that will teach you about how to be an effective educator and will inform you about current issues in the educational world. The first two years of an undergraduate degree contains many general classes.

During the last two years of your undergraduate degree, you will be taking courses that focus on your area of study and allow you to study in-depth various facets of what is takes to be a teacher. Depending on what specific area you want to focus on, you may be able to specialize in a certain area. Check with the college you are attending to see the outline of their program so that you will understand what is available to you.

Teaching Certification

After earning your four-year degree from an accredited college or university, you will be eligible to pursue your certification. Different states have different requirements, so you will want to check in your area to see what the requirements are. Often, teachers are required to take the PRAXIS exams in order to become certified. Your college or university should be able to inform you about the requirements and guide you to any additional helpful information.
